The
Office of Developmental Programs (formerly the Office of Mental Retardation) supports a comprehensive array of services and supports for people with mental retardation including: community residential and day support services which are either administered or operated by county MH/MR programs; contracted private residential intermediate care facilities for persons with mental retardation (ICF/MR) services or services in state centers. The mental retardation system is funded through federal, state and county funds.Northwest Health Connections provides training to Provider staff, Supports Coordinators, Personal Care Home staff, Family Living Providers, family members, and consumers in the following counties: Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, and Warren. If you live or work outside of these counties, there is another Health Care Quality Unit (HCQU) serving your area. Please contact them to inquire about trainings.

American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), formerly The American Association on Mental Retardaton, has been providing leadership in the field of mental retardation.
